A buy-to-let landlord from Edinburgh has had her appeal rejected by the First Tier Tribunal and has been ordered to compensate her tenants £1875.
The tenants had occupied Linda Searle’s Edinburgh property from 2013 to 2018, providing a deposit of one month’s rent in advance set at £625. However, the deposit was not paid into an approved tenancy deposit scheme as required by the Tenancy Deposit Schemes (Scotland) regulations 2011.
The landlord appealed the original decision however the First Tier Tribunal ruled that the award of £1875 was justified and rejected the appeal.
